I have a doll, y'all!

I submitted a design for the Ruby Red Fashion Friends Create Your Dream Doll contest in 2024, and a year later they made my doll! She's a limited edition Siblies that was available for preorder between May 24 and June 7 2025 and was also on sale at FAO Schwarz online I guess until stock ran out. She's now sold out.

While technically not a craft, this does still fall under art, as the doll is based on my drawing, so I decided to share her here. Ruby Red also asked me a few questions and posted the interview on their IG and Facebook page. As contest winner I was sent a doll for free along with a certificate and a few extra post cards. I'm very grateful to Ruby Red for the opportunity! As an avid doll collector with no sewing or doll-sculpting skills, something like this is truly a dream come true. I recommend that anyone who loves Ruby Red dolls enter their fan design contest because you never know, you just might win it!

When I was growing up, black female characters and dolls were are often portrayed as the bold, stylish diva. Sometimes they may be casual or sporty. Rarely do they get to be kawaii. For that reason it was important to me to design a black doll that was dressed cutesy and sweet. She's sporting my favorite color, wearing somewhat dressy child's fashion with a whimsical strawberry theme. She even has a little doll of her own.

This color scheme gives me life!

Well, she is a doll lover herself, after all.
